Work Summary:
The candidate will report to the release engineering manager and will be responsible for release management, configuration management, performance management, development environment support, and first line engineering support of released product.This position will interface closely with software development, quality assurance, project management, and site operations to maintain and enhance our existing development processes. The candidate will be exposed to all facets of the products and the processes and necessary hardware to deliver these products.
Skills:
- Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- At least 5 years experience in the software industry in roles as Release Engineer, Site Operation Analyst, Application Support Analyst, or Developer
- 3+ years of MS SQL server programming, VB and COM+ technology
- A thorough understanding of product lifecycles, software development, project management, load testing, and release practices in an Internet environment
- Strong deployment experiences with Microsoft W2Kx Server, IIS, SQL Server
- Strong experience with web based system architecture design and implementation
- Solid experience with CM systems (e.g. TFS or VSS)
- Experience with ADO, .Net, C#, Java, Perl, OODM, UML, XML, XSLT, SOAP, ASP, JavaScript, and MSMQ
- Ability to design and implement large scale performance and load testing solutions
- Expert experience working with VMWare, LoadRunner or any load testing systems
- Strong oral and written communications skills, strong problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Familiarity with data center operations and a knowledge of site technologies (SANs, NASs, Load balancers) would be an asset
Responsibilities:
- Act as a champion of the software release management process to create and maintain release plans, and monitor release preparation and production readiness of release candidates
- Support design and implementation of server architecture and configuration of web based systems
- Design and implement build and installation tools
- Organize, design, and conduct application performance, load, and security testing of release candidates
- Analyze application/site capacity characterization
- Manage and implement testing and development environments
- Provide Software Configuration Management support
- First Line engineering support of released products
